French Door Refrigerator With Ice Maker Review Combining form and function, French-door refrigerators come with elegant double doors that open to an enormous fridge on the top and a freezer drawer beneath. These refrigerators stand out due to their unique features, including door-to-door dispensers and more expensive ice makers. GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator As its name suggests, the GE Profile series is aimed at consumers who want to incorporate cutting-edge technology into their kitchen. This refrigerator is packed with these, from an inside-the-door Keurig K-cup coffee maker to a clever water dispenser. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. Since this refrigerator is an extra amount, I'd like to see better. Other than that the fridge is a fantastic choice. It has a huge freezer compartment, which is unusual for counter-depth French-door fridges. It also holds a lot of frozen food, which is a big difference from other models. Inside the fridge, there are 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment is 18.5 cubic feet, which is the standard for a French-door fridge at this price. It comes with a decent size refrigerator with an ice maker in the left door. But it's not the most spacious one I've seen. You can adjust the shelves in both compartments to create a a custom storage solution. The GE PYE22PYNFS's interior design is stylish, too. Its LED lighting is a nice addition and the storage bins come with the third shelf, which folds down to make it possible to store large items. The drawers have temperature controls so you can set them for Beverage, Meat, or Deli settings. The drawers are simple to open and shut, but I found the plastic's textured coatings to be a bit rough on my fingers. The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator is equipped with a complete set of features you'd expect from a fridge at this price, including Wi-Fi and app support via GE's SmartHQ software. The app, which is available for iOS and Android devices allows you to control your fridge from anywhere in world, and it has a ton of customization options. It also gives you notifications when a door is left open, when the refrigerator or freezer is in need of defrosting, and when it's time to change the filter. It would be great to have GE PYE22PYNFS had Precise Fill which is a feature found in a few GE refrigerators that allow users to select the amount of cups they wish to dispense. The fridge displays a countdown to display how much water is left but it's not as effective as Precise Fill. LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator The LG LRFLC2706S is a great counter-depth refrigerator that packs a lot of storage space into the frame's compact size. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. The fridge has an ordinary French door layout, with two rows of shelving with spill-capture and a set of crisper drawers. The top shelf on the right can be folded down to make space for tall items. You'll also find a full width drawer for deli and an inside water dispenser. The refrigerator comes with an ice maker, making it simple to transfer frozen ice whenever you need it. The freezer features thoughtful design elements, for instance, sliding drawers that help better organize the position of your items. It also has a huge bin that holds plenty of frozen food and an additional storage bin for ice. Another awesome feature of this refrigerator is its Smart InstaView panel. You can control the temperature, lighting, and other aspects of your fridge using your smartphone. It's a good way to monitor and manage your refrigerator, especially when you're away from home. But while the Smart InstaView is a neat feature, it doesn't add to the overall performance of the refrigerator. This fridge took longer to defrost food and chill it than some others we test. This is likely due to its larger capacity. The doors are a different issue with this refrigerator. They have handles that are sunken on the front, which allow shorter people to easily pull them open from the bottom, but they're difficult for taller people to guide closed without slamming them. It would have been much better to have front-mounted handles. The LG Counter-Depth MAX fridge is an excellent choice for those who want to combine the look and feel of a French-door refrigerator with an efficient design. Its most notable feature is the adjustable temperature drawer helps to keep food items like meat and vegetables fresher for longer. It also has a large water dispenser and a decent ice machine that works fast. Another nice feature is the “Chill Drawer” that sits above the two crisper bins. This drawer lets you redirect some of the refrigerator's cooling power directly into this area, meaning you can keep food items that require special attention. You can adjust the feature using an adjustable slider that is located just outside of the drawer. You can also adjust the general cooling settings for the entire fridge. I've noticed that the generic settings work better than the specific ones. During my tests, I discovered that the temperatures in the refrigerator were fairly consistent in various parts of the fridge. The temperatures in the top and bottom of the fridge did not vary significantly from 38 degrees, and even the middle of the fridge was within one degree of 36. This is a great performance, but isn't quite at the top of our rankings. This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. You can also pair this fridge with a smart thermometer for more precise measurements of your fridge's temperature. The exterior of the Frigidaire is made from grey-bodied stainless with a “smudge resistant” finish. It does an excellent job of removing streaks and fingerprints even when compared to the shiny stainless steel finishes on other appliances I've tried.
